Vamos Explorar Portugal

These troubled times pose difficulties when it comes to traveling and as a consequence they have a serious impact on our day-to-day at My Bookpack. Initially we were  apprehensive but... 'when life gives you lemons you make lemonade', right?
During the lockdown we had to stop our regular tasks so we started brainstorming and decided to rescue old ideas and side projects that were stored away in the back of our minds. After long conversations we came to the conclusion that we wanted to build a fun and educational product aiming the mini explorers. And so we did! We trusted our gut, rolled up our sleeves and created a children's book named "Vamos explorar Portugal" (which literally translates to "Let's explore Portugal").

An adventure for children

With parents stuck at home with their kids, we felt the need to create something new to entertain and spike the interest of the little ones, but also to inspire the whole family to travel without leaving the couch. We knew it couldn't be a dull book, nor a nerdy one, so we invested in a fun education tool.
We won't lie, initially it was a challenge, but a good one! ​Children are expert critiques and also game changers, so writing a travel book for them pushed us to think outside the box and to be more creative. 

It's a journey across Portugal

Portugal is our area of expertise so the book is a journey throughout our home country.
We chose regions, cities, natural parks and archipelagos that, in a way, sum up the whole country. For each one of them we wrote a little background story, created an educational activity and also included a curiosity!
​Of course to tie the whole thing up there are cool and colourful illustrations which were created by our talented designer and dear friend @teresatypes.

Our target is the whole family

The book is appropriate from children aged between 5 and 10 since some activities are more basic and others more complex. Basically, it is a family book! The child can't read? No biggy, older siblings or parents can read aloud and the kid can colour it. The kid is too old for this? Hm... go for the word puzzles and try getting all the answers right in the final quiz! There's always something there despite the age range, and the coolest thing about it is that they truly become little Portugal  connoisseurs.

For the time being we only have the Portuguese version available, but we're already working on the English one which will be ready very soon! ​
