Easy for some, urgent for others and unthinkable for some more. We're all different and each person has perceived, endured and overcome the harshest phase of the pandemic their own way. There's no rights or wrongs here, but the truth is for most people COVID was (and still is) a confusing invisible threat that created havoc at a global scale. Getting our heads around it was a struggle, but getting back to normal isn't an easy task either. That's why we decided to write about it, but specially about why travelling can be a solution to ease back to living life at its fullest. What's the COVID situation like in Portugal? At the present moment Portugal has managed to fully vaccinate over 85% of the population, which means we're way above the European Union average. Following the local health guidelines and the Government's deconfinement plan, we now start to appreciate how free we were before COVID hit us. Restaurants are open with no curfew, people hang out at bars, museums are working normal hours, there a wide list of cultural events to choose from and travelling is easy. For all these reasons, there's an overall good feeling about life and people are making plans, which was something that felt quite distant in the future a few months ago. Is travelling to Portugal a big ordeal? Not anymore. Well, it depends where you come from and the more protected you are, the better. This means having a vaccination certificate eases all processes and makes travelling across the country pretty much stress free. When flying in, it's still necessary to have a negative COVID test and protective measures are still in place, such as using a mask in public enclosed spaces and keeping the social distance whenever possible. Let's face it: COVID is here to stay and so are we, so let's find a balance to be happy and safe. Why should Portugal be on your bucket listPortugal is pretty much a rectangle cornered against the Atlantic and a couple of archipelagos, right? Hm... not really. Portugal is way more than that and despite its small size it perfectly sums up the best about life: people are welcoming, food is great, the wine is superb, there are incredible natural parks for fans of the outdoors, fantastic beaches, adorable countryside hideaways, cities full of history and loads of surprises around each and every corner. Travelling is all about disconnecting from our daily lives and reconnecting with what's truly important: people, culture and nature. Portugal can easily be exactly what you were looking for and that's why it should be on every single person's bucket list.
